SaucepanIn life, focus is key when working on something. The same applies to cooking. One afternoon as I was cooking, I experienced what happens if you lose focus while cooking. As I was poaching a batch of pears and got carried away in a book I was reading, I forgot about the pears! And the result was a badly burnt saucepan! But something positive still came out of this experience as I got a tip from mom on how to clean a burnt pot. I am going to share the tip with you:

  1. Sprinkle the bottom of the saucepan or pot well with some baking soda.
  2. Add some water and white vinegar and bring to the boil.
  3. Wash the pot with soapy water (a bit of scrubbing may be needed).

So in a way, I learned two lessons from one incident: one, never lose focus in the middle of a task and two, how to clean a burnt saucepan.
