Today Josh is going to share with you how to make a Bobotie dish.

Bobotie is a well known South African dish consisting of spiced minced meat baked with an egg-based topping. It is mostly famous in Cape Town.

Below are the ingredients and instructions on how to make this yummy dish. It is such an easy dish to make.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp Oil
  • 2 sliced Onions
  • 2 tsp crushed Garlic
  • 500g Mince
  • 2ml Salt
  • 30ml Chutney
  • 15ml smooth Apricot jam
  • 15ml Worcester sauce
  • 5ml Turmeric
  • 30ml brown Vinegar
  • 25g (4 tbsp) Oat bran
  • 1 Can brown Lentils (410g)
  • 125ml (half a cup) Raisins
  • 4 bay leaves
  • 250ml milk

 Instructions:

Fry the onion and garlic in the oil

Add the mince.

Cook this until the mince is nice and crumbly

Add all the spices and salt.

Whisk together the milk and eggs.

Spoon the mix into a medium sized oven dish and level it with the back of a spoon.

Pour the milk and egg mixture over it and poke the bay leaves in the mince for decoration.

Bake at 180 for 1 hour.
